Building Bridges Between Worlds

Please join us for a morning of professional development to explore some of the pressing topics teachers are facing with the new school year, including the steady creep of AI into student work, and the perennial hurdle of student engagement.

The morning will begin with a featured presentation by Steve Dembo, the Director of Digital Innovation at Western Springs School District, who has presented at the Illinois Digital Educators Alliance Conference (IDEAcon).

The featured presentation will be followed by two breakout sessions on a variety of topics.

PROGRAM PREVIEW

FEATURED PRESENTER:  Steve Dembo (Western Springs School District) will present on Artificial Intelligence interactive chatbots and the implications for schools, students, and teachers.

Carrie Thomas (Warren Township High School) will present on the use of AI in teacher planning and preparation.

John Hayward (Naperville Central High School) will present techniques for developing student voice through writing and discussion (bring a writing utensil for practice journaling).

Nicole Lombardo (Stevenson High School) will present techniques and activities for fostering a sense of belonging and developing self-confidence to be engaged.

Tim Pappageorge (Maine East High School) will present a case study for Asset-Based Executive Functioning and show how to implement it to help students become more self-directed, independent learners.

3 CPDU credits will be available, please know your IEIN.
