The Illinois Association of Teachers of English invites English Language Arts professionals to apply for a scholarship to attend the annual Fall Conference.  This scholarship will cover the registration fee for the two days of the conference, including meals provided during the conference.  

Eligibility:

English language arts instructors from all levels are eligible to participate.

Number of Awards & Deadlines:

IATE will award ten scholarships according to the following timeline:

3 Awards by July 31, 2026 (Deadline July 15)

3 Awards by August 31, 2026  (Deadline August 15)

4 Awards by September 30, 2026  (Deadline September 15)

Award Criteria:

Scholarships are awarded on a needs-basis.  The Scholarship Committee considers the financial need of the individual educator applicant and the population the educator applicant serves. 

Award Specifics:

Scholarship recipients will be notified by email by the dates listed above.  Recipients’ names and institutions may be published in the newsletter, conference program, and on the IATE website with the recipient’s permission.  Recipients will be requested a headshot photo for publication.  Following the conference, recipients will be asked to submit a 300-500 word narrative detailing their experience at the fall conference and the sessions they attended for publication in the IATE Newsletter.  

Decisions of the Scholarship Selection Committee are final.
