Contests and Awards

  • Author of the Year
IATE is proud to recognize each year at the annual fall conference a writer who holds some special connection to the state and whose work contributes significantly to the literature of Illinois.
  • IATE Life Membership Award Recipients
Every year, the Awards Committee of the Illinois Association of Teachers of English accepts nominations for the Life Membership Award. IATE members may nominate other members of the organization who, throughout their career in education, have contributed to the advancement of the mission of the Illinois Association of Teachers of English through their advocacy for the organization or through their teaching practices. Recipients of the Life Membership Award are recognized at the awards dinner at the annual fall conference and given lifetime membership in the organization.
  • Student Poetry, Prose, Art & Photography Contest

The deadline each year is December 15, and contest results will be published in a subsequent issue of the Illinois English Bulletin.

  • IATE Classroom Essentials Award
