Site Development Notes

Post your ideas about improvements you’d like to see at the IATE site.

With this first post, I’d like to suggest making these enhancements in the short term:

  • Find a new theme.  The one we use now, “Canyon”–while basically clean, has tiny print, and, worst of all, the links hardly show up.  They become slightly greyed, and you really have to be on the lookout for them.
  • Find/design a new header logo.
  • Develop the Executive Member area.
  • Reduce the number of items in the header menu.
  • Improve the content:  Mark’s idea of IATE bloggers?

Things that need fixing from “Canyon”–our theme the past few years:

    1. Links don’t show up clearly.
    2. The text is too small.
    3. I don’t like the “fixed-width” layout–I’d prefer a variable-width layout that uses the whole screen.
    4. To manny menu items in the header. [I already went ahead and changed this.]
    5. The black background is too dark and obnoxious in places (particularly the pull-down menu).
    6. The header graphic is not attractive.

I’d like a clean-looking theme that doesn’t rely on good graphics; I’d love to have good graphics, but we don’t have them–so I’d opt to move to a theme that doesn’t rely on them…
