Utilizing Podcasts for Research Writing
Utilizing Podcasts for Research Writing
Caty Siefert-Pearce
This session delves into the popular form of podcasting and how to use it in place of a standard research paper. Podcasts are typically short, serialized audio pieces that can, but do not have to be, collaborative. In the age of AI and waning student engagement, these pieces can become invaluable in teaching research writing and making it relevant to students' interests today. In this session, participants will be given tools and ideas for how to model and rhetorically analyze professionally produced podcasts, what students can take away to adapt from those podcasts to their own, how to take tried and true research essay writing practices and apply them to this genre, as well as tips for having students record their pieces from the outline/script they produce.
