Editorial Board Members for the Illinois English Bulletin
The Executive Board of the Illinois Association of Teachers of English (IATE) invites 2-4 new members to join the editorial board of the Illinois English Bulletin for the next 3-year editorial cycle. We are dedicated to publishing high-quality scholarly articles in the field of English Studies, English Education, Language Arts, Literature, Reading, and other related areas, and we seek individuals who are passionate about advancing knowledge and promoting rigorous academic discourse.
About the Journal: The Illinois English Bulletin is a peer reviewed professional academic journal that aims to provide a platform for research and scholarship related to the English content area. The IEB accepts submissions that explore topics such as curriculum development, pedagogical strategies, assessment practices, literacy studies, and the integration of technology in the classroom (as examples). Our commitment is to uphold the highest standards of scholarship while addressing the needs and interests of English educators.
Responsibilities: As a member of the editorial board, you will:
- Help shape the journal’s direction and editorial policies.
- Promote the journal within your academic networks.
- Assist in identifying and recruiting high-quality submissions.
- Review submitted manuscripts and provide constructive feedback.
- Publish one to two digital journal issues per year.
- Participate in regular board meetings and discussions.
- Fulfill a three-year commitment.
Qualifications: We encourage applications from scholars with:
- Experience in middle school, high school, or post-secondary teaching.
- Experience in peer review and/or editorial roles.
- A commitment to fostering diversity and inclusivity in academic publishing.
- Excellent communication and collaborative skills.
Application Process: Interested candidates should submit the following materials by Sunday, December 15, 2024:
- A current CV highlighting your academic and editorial experience.
- A cover letter outlining your interest in joining the editorial board and your vision for the journal.
- Names and contact information for two professional references.
Interested candidates may submit their applications as individuals or as a team.

Timeline: Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and selected candidates will be notified by January 15, 2024. We aim to finalize the new editorial board members by February 15, 2024.
